Welcome from the Chair, Department of Prosthodontics
The Dental School's Predoctoral Education Program was recently reorganized into a general practice group design in which the prosthodontic faculty members have met the challenge to contribute in expanded roles within each group. The predoctoral curriculum has undergone multiple revisions and now focuses on a Diagnosis-First emphasis in the preclinical courses of "Treatment of the Dentate, Partially Edentulous and Edentulous Patients". I invite you to review our programs including the many educational opportunities through the Division of Graduate Prosthodontics. In the area of service, many of our faculty members provide direct patient care through the DSRDP Prosthodontics Faculty Practice Clinic and the residents provide direct patient care through the Graduate Prosthodontics Clinic. The Dental School recently completed its accreditation site visit (2005) in which the Division of Graduate Prosthodontics received special recognition for the innovative, digital literature review process used by our residents in prosthodontics. It should be noted that the "super abstract" and resident-directed literature review process began with the prosthodontic residents in the early 1990's and has grown to represent an outstanding resource for our current residents. Graduate Prosthodontics enjoys increased numbers of applicants, representing some of the brightest, young professionals throughout the United States and abroad. . . . . . The Department of Prosthodontics manages the Kenneth L. Stewart Memorial fund in which all donations are used in support of managing the most current library of relevant prosthodontic literature and teaching technology for our residency program. Through these and other fund sources, Dr. William A. Kuebker, who, as Chair of the Department in 1995, facilitated the renovation and design of the Prosthodontic Conference Room. This was created as a premier small-group, educational facility primarily for our residents and for use in support of other educational activities in the Dental School. The Department welcomes your donation in support of educational programs, and additional information is available upon request. Click here for more information on the Kenneth L. Stewart Memorial Fund. . . . . . As an alumnus, please keep us updated on your successes, as we hope to expand our contact information in the website. Above all, we enjoy knowing that all is well with you and your families.
Mission Statement: The Department of Prosthodontics will support the Dental School and the University of Texas Health Science Center through:
