Kenneth L. Stewart Memorial Fund

The Kenneth L. Stewart Memorial was started to honor the memory of Dr. Kenneth Lowe Stewart. Dr. Stewart joined the Dental School faculty in 1973 where he served as Professor and Head, Division of Removable Partial Denture Prosthodontics. During his twenty-three years of service at the dental school, Ken received twenty teaching awards including being named "Teacher of the Year" by nine dental school classes, being elected Honorary Class Marshall by five classes, receiving the UTHSCSA Presidential Excellence in Teaching Award and being selected by the Dental school Faculty Council for two Outstanding Course Director awards. Dr. Stewart had tremendous character and integrity. He was truly loved and respected by his students and his peers.
Prior to his university position, Dr. Stewart served an illustrious thirty year career in the United States Air Force, where he served five years as Assistant Chairman and three years as Chairman of the Department of Prosthodontics at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. He retired as a Colonel and his military awards include the Commendation Medal and the Legion of Merit.
Dr. Stewart endured medical problems over the years and passed away on August 1, 1996. He was married to Harriet, a devoted friend and partner through 37 years of marriage. His legacy endures through his son, daughter, and grandchildren. For those of us who worked with Dr. Stewart, his memory endures through his professional integrity he instilled.
