Clinical Camera
If financially possible, it may be to the student's benefit to acquire a clinical camera. Documenting clinical and laboratory work photographically is an important aspect of the critical evaluation of treatment outcomes. The accumulation of photographed clinical material will be very important for future professional presentations. A study club on the use of an intraoral camera will be presented during the summer semester.
Surgical Telescopes
Due to the exacting nature of clinical and laboratory prosthodontics, the use of optically fine surgical telescopes enables the practitioner to perform at the highest level of accuracy possible. If financially possible, the acquisition of surgical telescopes, with or without prescription lenses, is a beneficial purchase. Magnification in the 2.5 to 3.5 range is recommended.
Computer Services
In the laboratory assigned to the Program, a fully functional computer work station and printer, is available for student use. The Department of Prosthodontics also allows access to the departmental flat-bed color scanner, slide scanner and slide printer which will provide the students state-of-the-art slide fabrication capabilities.
The student is advised to become familiar with the UTHSCSA library's computer resources. The Teaching Learning Center within the library provides non-print media as well as microcomputers and software. Students have access to these materials during times when the library is operational.
