line

Overview

Research serves an important role in the Department of Prosthodontics as one of its four primary missions (teaching, service, patient care). The development of new knowledge through corporate funding and collaborative research has been the Department's main emphasis. The Department has been successful with clinical trials in several areas and as well in some areas of basic science research. The Department faculty has been involved in bioengineering, bone regeneration, bone metabolism, dental material, and dental implant research.

Objectives

  1. Develop new knowledge through clinical trials and basic science research.
  2. Secure funding through corporate support.
  3. Pursue federal funding.
  4. Enhance the expertise of faculty.
  5. Provide opportunities in research for dental students and postdoctoral students.
  6. Develop a research fellowship.
  7. Share new knowledge at national meetings.
  8. Add new knowledge to the dental literature.
